About this App
Most alt text problems on a small business site are not arguable. A photo of the work has no description. A gallery is full of IMG_4821.jpg. The only thing naming the "Get a quote" button is a picture, so a blind visitor hears a web address. None of it shows to whoever built the page, which is why it is still there. Alt Text Checker reads the page it is placed on and tells you, in the Editor, which images have a problem, what the problem is, where it sits, and what good alt text looks like for that kind of image. For any site with photographs on it: trades, clinics, shops, blogs, portfolios. It will not write the alt text for you — it cannot see what your picture shows, and a wrong description is worse than none to the one person who cannot tell. It does not flag correct work: an empty alt on a decoration is right, and so is an image inside a link that is already named. It checks that page only, not your whole site. Read the report, fix what it found, then move it to the next page. If you came for a one-click audit of every page, this is not that. Free. Your visitors see nothing: on a published site the widget renders an empty element and not even the report's code.
What the listing highlights
- Finds missing alt text and filename placeholders
- Leaves decorative and already-named images alone
- Shows where each image is and what to write
- Runs in the editor and is invisible to visitors
